Champion was a wonderful Cocker Terrier mix who loved to play ball, however, she encountered many health related challenges throughout her life. She endured back surgery, neck surgery and battled cancer. The medical treatment she required was very expensive, totalling over $10 thousand dollars – but she was worth every penny. Sadly, she lost her battle to cancer September 6, 2006 at the age of 13. Canine Health and Medical Program (CHAMP) was established, in Champion’s honor, to provide health care and medical support services for families, who are unable to afford the appropriate medical options for their canine companions. CHAMP, a non-profit organization, 501(c)3, will assist families in paying for medical treatment and prescriptions in order to keep their beloved pets alive. The staff at CHAMP are currently builiding a team of veterinarians in the Phoenix metro area. Pet owners will soon be able to take their pet to one of CHAMP’s medical professionals. Based on the financial situation of the pet owner, CHAMP will either pay a portion or the entire expense of the necessary treatments. Plans are in place to continue to grow the network of veterinarians throughout the state of Arizona, as well in other states. At the current time, the organization is accepting donations to enable CHAMP to assist families in receiving the appropriate medical care for their pets. Donations may be mailed to: |
